Often, Los Angeles shines with its Hollywood glamour and iconic landmarks like the Hollywood Sign, Universal Studios Hollywood, Griffiths Observatory, and Santa Monica Pier. But there are a lot of hidden gems in Los Angeles waiting to be discovered by adventure enthusiasts.
Best Los Angeles Hidden Gem Attractions
1. The Bridge to Nowhere
The 9-mile round trip hike of the Bridge to Nowhere is one of the most popular hidden gems in LA. It is not actually “nowhere” but it is called so because the roads which once led up to it are now washed away due to floods. Originally, the Bridge to Nowhere was a link in a roadway between the San Gabriel Valley to the south and Wrightwood to the north.
2. Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens
If you are searching for peace and tranquility amidst the busy ways of Los Angeles, visit the Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens. The Renaissance-styled white mansion you see here was completed in 1913. The labyrinth was after the one on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France, whereas the gardens are Japanese-inspired ones. So, you can either meditate, listen to calming music, read books, or unwind here.
3. Korean Bell of Friendship
The Korean Bell of Friendship, located in the city of San Pedro, celebrates the friendship between the Republic of Korea and the United States. This beautiful bell which is standing at a height of 12 feet and weighs around 17 tons was modeled after the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, cast in 771 for Bongdeok Temple.
4. The Bunny Museum
The Guinness World Record-certified Bunny Museum with more than 35,000 bunny-related items is another one of the hidden gems in Los Angeles. What began as a gift exchange between the couple Steve Lubanski and Candace Frazee is what led to the opening of the museum in 1998. Not only that, you can also see really cute bunnies here who are a part of their family!
5. Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
If you want to enjoy panoramic views take the short but challenging hike up the stairs to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. It is located just south of Ballona Creek in Culver City, and what’s more…. On a clear day, you can see views of the San Gabriel Mountains to Santa Monica Bay.
6. The Japanese Garden
The Japanese Garden in Los Angeles is a 6.5-acre traditional Japanese garden designed by Dr. Koichi Kawana to bring splendour, calmness, inspiration, and a better appreciation of Japanese culture through the use of reclaimed water.
7. The Witch’s House
The Witch’s House, also known as the Spadena House, is a straight-out-of-a-fairytale-looking house located in Beverly Hills, LA. It is one of the must-visit hidden gems because it is often compared to the Hansel and Gretel house. However, as this is a private residence no tours are offered so you just have to admire it from the street nearby.
8. St. Vincent Court
A little bit of Europe can be found at the St. Vincent Court of Los Angeles. St. Vincent Court is located in the 7th Street, between Broadway & Hill, in Downtown LA. You can find colorful houses, Mediterranean restaurants, flower shops, cafes, and jewelry stores here.
